Bowling

All week Devin was asking us if we could go bowling, so on Saturday afternoon we decided to take him. We didn't realize that the place we went to was "big ball" ten pin (until we pulled up and by then it was too late- as anyone with a 2 or 3 year old knows!) which made things a little more challenging for me and Devin.

Erick went and found us (me and Devin) some little 6 pounder balls to use, especially since Devin REFUSED to use the ball "slide" they have for little kids. I did much better once I had the 6 pound ball (by much better I mean actually hit some pins) and Devin was able to push his down the lane. He did use the bumpers.

And don't even ask what's up with this goofy face.....THIS is the kind of "cheese" smile I get lately!

Oh and in case you were wondering...Erick won and Devin and I tied. Yeah, I know.....

Tea Party and Check Up

Saturday morning Devin and I were invited to our friends Kim and Emma's house. Devin and Emma are always so funny when they get together. They seemed to have formed this little love and hate relationship in the past year or so that we have been getting together. Of course this week-end was no different. The big to-do this time was a Tea Party.

Devin and I also took a trip to Wal-Mart over the week-end to pick up a Doctor Check-Up kit. Devin was able to get this kit as a reward for his "stellar" behavior report we received from school (for the whole week!). Obviously we were more than thrilled with this news! This means that the operation was a success!!! Devin has not had any ear infections since AND his behavior has improved dramatically and quickly! He has also increased his affection for learning. Yay!

Here are some pictures of Devin using the kit on Daddy.Dr. Devin really gets into his role.... LOL!

Coffee

As we stopped at Dunkin Donuts to pick me up an iced coffee yesterday Devin asked,

"Why you getting coffee Mommy? You like it?"

"Oh yes Mommy loves it! I need it!"

"Coffee makes you feel better Mommy?"

Precisely Devin!

He gets it! Man I love this kid!

Playing In the Snow

Today was the perfect weather to play outside in the snow, in my opinion anyway! It was in the upper 40's (at least!) and very sunny and comfortable. Usually we are out there playing in 20* weather and freezing our tushies off!

Here are some pictures of Devin climbing the snow mountain formed by the snow plow.

We also made a very sad looking snowman, of which I did not get any pictures and found animal tracks. Devin thought the animal tracks were from a pig! Sorry Devin, we don't have any wild pig around here (not that I know of anyway!). hee hee

"Good Job...

...cleaning the floor Mommy!"

That is what Devin told me as I was sweeping and washing the kitchen and dining room floors tonight. It feels good to get some recognition!

He cracks me up!

Lobster

Last night we went out for seafood. Erick and I had been craving some critters of the sea, so we went to a local place to fulfill the desire. Devin was a bit spooked by the fake lobsters hanging on the walls and kept talking about them the whole time we were there. He didn't even want to try my lazy man's lobster (shame on him...so yummy!) At the end of our meal the waitress brought out a real lobster in a bucket for Devin to see.

In the first picture Devin gets a little daring and peeks in the bucket...
In the second picture Daddy is touching the lobster's claws (in an attempt to get Devin to touch it- yeah right!). The rest of the night Devin kept saying, "Daddy don't touch the lobster. He's too grumpy!"
It was pretty funny/cute and definitely the highlight of our dinner!

Sorry about the picture quality, they were taken on my phone.

More Vacation Unexpectedness

About mid-vacation week we got a little surprise....and it was not a pleasant one!!!

We put Devin down for a nap on Wednesday and Erick and I went into the basement to tackle some organizing projects (do you have any idea how long it took me to convince him to do this??). Anyway, as we walked down into the basement we could tell something was wrong immediately. There was a smell, a pretty potent, sort of gassy smell and so we called the National Grid (natural gas) Company to come and check it out. Boy, they do a great job of scaring you! "Don't touch anything! Don't turn anything on or off!" Which is for our own benefit, I know, but still...we were already scared as it was.

The man arrives with his hand held beeping machine (another scary feature) and walks in and asks for the basement. He doesn't like it very much when I try to be a a nice host and turn on the basement light for him (oops!) After a few minutes of him in the basement and lots of beeping, Erick heads down. We find out that it is not gas, but CARBON MONOXIDE. Yes, CARBON MONOXIDE IN MY HOUSE!!! Not a comforting feeling! I panicked and started opening the doors and windows to air the place out. The National Grid guys narrows down the problem to our furnace. GREAT!

We call in a Heating and Cooling Company. They tell us that our furnace is 27 years old. They can not find a leak or blockage in the chamber that is throwing out so much CO but there is definitely a malfunction in the furnace and recommend that we replace it since we can not run the current furnace (aka heat which is a necessity in New England!).

So the next day and $2600 later, we had a new furnace, heat, and no Carbon Monoxide. Honestly, I could think of several other ways I would have rather spent $2600 on my vacation....oh well.
