Party-filled Week-end

We had a wonderful, fun, busy, and exhausting week-end. We visited with Grandma and Papa on Friday and had Grandma over our house for a visit on Saturday morning. Emma's 4th birthday party was Saturday afternoon, and then a surprise (kid-free) 30th for my best friend Saturday night. Sunday morning we had swim lessons followed by a birthday party for Devin's friend from school. We were supposed to go to a Going Away BBQ Sunday afternoon, but by the time Devin woke up from his nap we were so tired, had headaches, and were engrossed in some de-cluttering that we skipped it (sorry friends!).

Phew, are you tired from reading about our busy week-end?? All of the events were so fun! It always nice to see friends and family and enjoy some time eating, talking, and laughing.

These pictures are from Devin's classmate's 4th birthday party Sunday. It was nice and small and they had a man there who was incredible with balloons. Here is his website.

Here are Devin and his 2 best buddies from school. The pic is a little fuzzy, but way worth posting!
The boys are all SOOOO in to Buzz Lightyear and Sean made a special Buzz balloon for the birthday boy.
Devin asked for a Monster...How cool is that?!?!
Of course Daddy had to get in on the action too!!
So, I think I need a week-end to recover from my week-end....

Fun Photo Friday

Devin received this "armor" from one of the secretaries at work. She is moving away and consequently cleaning out her closets. She sent this, her older son's beloved dress up gear, along for Devin to enjoy. He wears it while singing, "I'm a knight! That's right! I'm a knight, that's right!" (from the Backyardigans)

Below is Devin meeting Maggie for the first time. Maggie is my best friend Erin's new dog. She is a beautiful (as you can see) and well-natured 1 year old Golden Retreiver. Devin and Maggie played very nicely together!

Mystic Aquarium

The weather: Perfect~ Sunny and low 80's, dry air
The location: Mystic, Connecticut @ the aquarium
The company: My favs~ Erick, Devin, Erin (my best friend and Devin's God Mother) and of course ME!

We got to see many different sea animals at the aquarium. We saw sharks, which Devin was really hoping to see, pictured above with his "Aiyah." We also saw Beluga Whales (which I am checking out below). Their tanks are outside and it was such a gorgeous day for outside viewing.
We saw penguins which were so cool. I swear they were actors. They loved to pose as if saying "Sure, you can take my picture!"
There were hands-on activities to touch manatees, crabs, and pictured here starfish. Devin surprised me and was all-about this!
Our favorite thing of the day was definitely the Sea Lion Show! We all practiced our best sea lion barks on the way to the show and then watched in awe as the sea lion showed us their talents. They are very amazing creatures~ skillful for the employment with the Navy as well as entertaining the public! Devin was very excited as showcased here...
And we were all surprised when Cocoa the nearly 1,000 pound sea lion came out right in front of us! It was great!
We also saw seals, sharks, "Nemo and Dory" and various other fish, turtles, frogs, tadpoles, seals/sea lions being rehabilitated, jelly fish, lobsters, reptiles, and so much more! Here is a final picture which I though came out kind of neat (also the largest frog I have ever seen!)

I am here...a few updates

Just wanted to let you know that I am here. I have been suffering from a bad headache most of the week-end and that has been keeping me down. Sorry!!! In the meantime here are a few updates from our end...

*We continue to give Devin "Big boy undie" time, but there has really been no progress on that.

*We had a great time on the Fourth of July. We went to my parents' house for a delicious BBQ and got to see (almost) everyone important...my parents, my grandmother, my brother and Heather F, Erin and Shaun, and Marie.

*We opted not to try the fireworks this year. Devin is afraid of loud noises. While I hope that he would "get over it" once he understood the noise, I am just not sure. Plus, he was exhausted (as were we).

*Devin has an "Aiyah." Aiyah is what Devin has always called his godmother, Erin. Erin used to try to get Devin to say her name correctly but he never has. On the fourth, Devin called her "Erin." She hated it and immediately asked him to call her by her name, Aiyah.

*Erick is on vacation next week! I can't wait!

*On the other hand, I start my summer tutoring tomorrow Its only Monday through Thursday 8 to 10 am, but it means I will have to go to work when Erick is home. BOO!

*We are still deciding if we will take off and do something family oriented and fun next week. If we do it will be a long week-end Thursday (7/17- oh yeah my birthday ;) til Sunday (7/20). We are thinking of doing Story Land again. I would love to do Sesame Place, but that is waaaay too far!

Good friends, Good times

This week-end was filled with lots of laughter and fun with my best friend in the whole wide world, Erin. Erin and I have been friends since I was 2 and she was 1. We think this is quite an accomplishment and we are pretty proud of ourselves for being there through it all! Sure, there have been times when we were not as close as other times, but the reality is that we are friends forver- long lost sisters if you will!!

Saturday Erin called and said that she and her boyfriend Shaun had gotten a hold of some Red Sox tickets and asked if we would like to join them that night in Boston. Of course Erick and I, being HUGE Red Sox fans, jumped at this opportunity and after confirming that my parents would take care of Devin we were off for a very long night of fun! The game was at 8:35. It did not get over until midnight and then we proceeded to continue our evening at a local bar. There was lots of fun and adventure, and we did not manage to arrive home until 4:00am!!!! Needless to say, I can not remember the last time I was out until 4 am!!! Actually, I don't even know if I have ever been out that late at all!!! LOL

Here are a couple of pictu
res of our night.

For some unknown reason Fenway chooses to sell some (a lot) of their tickets three in one row and one behind
them. Erick was a great sport and took the lonesome seat, while Erin, Shaun, and I sat if front of him.

Sunday we celebrated Erin's birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY AIYAH!!! (Aiyah is the name Devin gave to Erin, his Godmother). We had a nice relaxing time hanginging out, eat, and enjoying eachother's company. Here is Erin opening up some of her gifts.
