New Baby Friend

Last fall my friend Kim had a beautiful baby girl whom she and her husband named Lexie. Devin is friends with Kim's older daughter, Emma, as they are both May 2006 "babies" and we get together every so often for the kiddos to play. Well, lemmetellyou Devin just loves Baby Lexie! Devin loves babies in general, but he especially loves to hold, kiss, and love on baby Lexie. It is too sweet! He also doesn't get jealous when I hold her (yay!) and even asks Kim if "his Mommy can hold her." (Too funny/cute!)

Here are some pictures from a recent play date.

Day with My Loves

Valentine's Day was so nice this year. I love that it fell on a Sunday. Even sweeter is that it fell on a Sunday before a Monday holiday! Score!

It was such a relaxing day. We hung out at home~ reading Devin's new Manners books, playing cars, and looking at Devin's baby pictures (awww memory lane!). We made a short trip over to my parents for a little visit. I even got in a quick shopping trip with my Mom while Devin and Erick hung out with Papa. We scored some great deals too! Once we were back home it was nap time and Erick and I relaxed with some tv time. I made a delicious ham dinner complete with pineapple, mashed potatoes, and vegetables.

After dinner, though, was when the real party started. We put on some music and Devin danced around the house while I made a chocolate fondue and cut up bananas and angel food cake. We also had marshmallows with this smooth chocolately goodness!

Make-Up

All of the struggles of this extremely difficult week: the tears, the temper tantrums, the timeouts (his and mine on all 3) were erased this morning by one single conversation.

Devin to Mommy: I love you all the time Mommy. I love all the fun stuff, the fun tativities, the playground, going to McDonald's, and chicken nuggets and apples. You're my girl Mommy.

Mommy: Do you love me when we stay home too?

Devin: Yep. I love you matter we do.

Mommy: I love you too Devin. You're my boy.

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday

This picture about sums up Devin's mood this week. (oh yeah, and mine too since my mood ultimately depends on his!)

A New Milestone

Devin reached a new milestone yesterday...his first stitches! Luckily (for him and for us!) the physician's assistant was able to use the Steri-Strip stitches to put Devin's chin back together again.

Here's the story on it...last evening Devin was goofing around- crawling on his hands and feet with his butt up in the air when he caught his foot on the molding between the rug and the tile floor. Suddenly he face planted onto the tile floor. Somehow he managed to split the underside of his chin open. I didn't notice at first, as I was too busy consoling him, but when he pulled his hands down they were full of blood! I brought him into the bathroom to clean it up and check it out. It took a while to get the bleeding under control, but when I finally did I noticed how wide the gash was. It seemed to be about 1 inch long and 1/4 inch wide. I called his pediatrician's office who said I should bring him into the ER to be examined.

Today, Devin was proudly showing off his wounded chin at school. "Look what happened! Look at my boo boo. See my chin?" I guess it makes him look stronger/braver/manlier (is that a word?? haha) He also brought along his new friend "Joe-What-Do-You-Know" the bear that the admissions people at St Josephs Hospital gave to him.

Clearly, he isn't too traumatized. Oh, and when Erick and I were talking to him about being careful when you play he said "What? Huh?" to us like it was a completely new and foreign concept to him!!! Oye! Why do I have a feeling this won't be our only injury induced ER trip for Devin?
