Old friends
This weekend Devin and I were invited to our friends- the Sylvester's- for some fun in the sun. Devin and Emma have been friends since about 20 months old and you can find many posts with Emma and her awesome family here on my blog. Emma has always had a little "thing" for Devin and we love to watch them as they grow. They remain great friends with a little bit more of flirt coming through. At one point they flipped the boat upside down and were "fooling around" under it. I know it was all innocent but it reminded us that we may not have much longer for their actions to stay innocent!

Time to Catch Up Tuesday
I thought I would take this opportunity and do a random catch-up post since I am home with a sick kid today.
* This particular sick kid is only on sick day #3 of the whole school year (and one day was an asthma monitoring day). This happens to be (dare I say this out loud) his personal best year EVER health-wise! WOOT!
*As some of you know, my mom had a LARGE tumor mass removed from her ankle on December 27. She is still on her long recovery road. She can't put any weight on her foot and has to sit with it elevated most of the day. The good news is that she hasn't heard any bad news on the lab results of the tumor! She isn't much of a TV watcher and has been reading a lot. (I had to make a Barnes and Noble stock up trip for her last Saturday!) Dad also went out and got them a laptop to help pass the time.
*Devin has really been enjoying his Leapfrog Tag and Explorer that he got for Christmas. This is a relief, since he didn't ask for either one! I especially like this large World Map that we got him to go with the Tag. I've already got put away a spelling game to go with the Tag and a new Explorer Toy Story 3 game (for a total $22!!) for Valentine's Day. Whattadeal!
*Devin loves to play games. He got a few new ones for Christmas like (a version of) Trouble, Hi Ho Cherry'O, Hot Potato, and more. When we went for a play date at Kim, Emma, and Lexie's over Christmas vacation he got to try Don't Break the Ice! What fun!
*Miss Lolly continues to crack us up! Here she is having a blast in the packaging for water. Silly girl!! I think this kept her busy for at least a half an hour!
She definitely thinks she is the princess of the house. 5 pound kitty sitting in the most comfortable chair in the house!
*I'm looking forward to a snow day tomorrow. We are expecting 8 to 14 inches of snow starting around day break tomorrow and lasting throughout the day. This will mean I don't have to use a sick day if Devin is still sick! Once he is feeling better, Devin will enjoy playing in a foot of cold, white fluffy stuff. He's crazy! He loves the snow!!

Family Photos
Last weekend we used Brave Photographers to get some pictures done. It had been about a year, so we were due. Here is a sampling of the pictures.

This one of Devin and Emma is too cute. They are the same age (both four and a half) as Kim and I were due on the same day. Buddies since about 20 months!
Did you notice I didn't post a family picture? You will just have to wait and see if you get a Christmas card! If not I will post one in a couple weeks ;)
So, which picture is your favorite?

Busy Week-end and Picture Overload!
We started off the week-end with a park playdate with Kim, Emma, and Lexie. All was going well until Devin face planted off the monkey bars. It wasn't pretty. Nose bleed, fat lips, and split gum (above the front teeth) so we headed home for popsicles, ice, and a movie. Poor kid. He is doing better now, but I have a feeling the gum/lip thing is going to take a while to heal.
Saturday morning Devin and I made bunny cupcakes for Easter. It was an idea that Devin came up with after he saw my ALL YOU magazine with bunny cupcakes on the cover. Devin was a big help: lining the cupcake pan, measuring the water, and placing all of the bunnies on top.
Saturday afternoon, after a haircut, lunch, and nap, we headed over to see Candace and Matthew. The boys had fun running around and got nice and DIRTY!!
Happy Easter by the way! On Sunday we started off the day at home with an egg hunt indoors and Easter basket. Then we headed outside for an egg hunt with Lexie. That was a lot of fun. They are so cute together.
Is that picture didn't make you say "awwwee!" then how about this sweet one?
We spent the afternoon at my parent's house. A delicious ham dinner courtesy of Mom, another egg hunt with some great gifts, and good company/many laughs and our day was complete.
Check out this gorgeous beach bag from Grandma and Papa! He even got a matching beach towel.
Papa and Marie taking it all in, including the beautiful, warm sun!
Uncle Mark has been teaching Devin how to play hockey. They took a break here for the egg hunt!
We are so thankful to have wonderful friends and great family! We love you all :)

Friends
Devin and Emma have been friends since they were about 20 months (if I am remembering correctly!) Devin is always excited to see Emma, and I love visiting with her Mom, Kim. When the kids get together they love to play, goof around, wrestle~ you name it. There is always one thing you can count on- chaos! It's awesome to see them have such a nice little friendship.
Here they are around their 2nd birthday:
About 2.5 years old and getting affectionate (lol):
Learning how to kiss (oh boy!):
About 3 years old:
Almost 4 years old:

I hope that Devin and Emma can continue their friendship for a very long time. They are so adorable together!! I'd also love them to stay close because I have come to have a great friendship with Emma's Mommy!

PS Kim, this is an old picture. I think you and I need an updated pic soon!

New Baby Friend
Last fall my friend Kim had a beautiful baby girl whom she and her husband named Lexie. Devin is friends with Kim's older daughter, Emma, as they are both May 2006 "babies" and we get together every so often for the kiddos to play. Well, lemmetellyou Devin just loves Baby Lexie! Devin loves babies in general, but he especially loves to hold, kiss, and love on baby Lexie. It is too sweet! He also doesn't get jealous when I hold her (yay!) and even asks Kim if "his Mommy can hold her." (Too funny/cute!)
Here are some pictures from a recent play date.

Tea Party and Check Up
Saturday morning Devin and I were invited to our friends Kim and Emma's house. Devin and Emma are always so funny when they get together. They seemed to have formed this little love and hate relationship in the past year or so that we have been getting together. Of course this week-end was no different. The big to-do this time was a Tea Party.

Devin and I also took a trip to Wal-Mart over the week-end to pick up a Doctor Check-Up kit. Devin was able to get this kit as a reward for his "stellar" behavior report we received from school (for the whole week!). Obviously we were more than thrilled with this news! This means that the operation was a success!!! Devin has not had any ear infections since AND his behavior has improved dramatically and quickly! He has also increased his affection for learning. Yay!
Here are some pictures of Devin using the kit on Daddy.

Dr. Devin really gets into his role.... LOL!

Birthday Celebration
Devin attended his first friend birthday party on Saturday. Little Miss Emma turned 2 last week and we joined them, and many others, in celebrating Emma's milestone. The party was great, with good company, good food, and beautiful weather. It couldn't have been any more perfect!
Here are a couple of pictures from the party: Devin and his friend Emma, Devin attempting to blow out the party favor, and finally...my reaction of Devin eating a fistful of ketchup! HAPPY BIRTHDAY EMMA!!!
