During our icy, slushy commute to school yesterday I heard that we are supposed to get a sizable amount of snow on Friday. I said out loud, in a rhetorical manner, "MORE SNOW? REALLY? What is going on with all this snow?"
Devin, unnecessarily, replied back, "It's winter Mommy!"
Just goes to show you how logical kids can be. He really should have added a big, fat DUH at the end of that statement! LOL
P.S Totally unrelated but this is my 400th post!

The Blame Game
Lately, Devin has been blaming things on his sister.
"My sister made that mess."
"It was my sister."
"My sister dumped all the blocks on the floor and didn't clean them up!"
The problem with this, you ask?
He doesn't have a sister!!!

The Best Thing
I asked Devin a couple of probing questions last night. Here were his interesting responses.
Mommy: Devin, What's the best thing you ever had to eat?
Devin: Uhhh, pancakes with (whipped) cream.
Mommy: Yeah, that is pretty good! Where is the best place you ever went?
Devin: The (Mc) Donald's Playground (he means the Playplace....you know where he is talking about!)
Mommy: What's the best thing you ever did?
Devin: Went to get a smoothie with Grandma and then got powdered donuts. Those are good!
*Ha! I am sensing a a bit of a pattern here. (FOOD!) Although, in his defense we WERE watching Food Network at the time and the Best of All Time ad is what prompted the questions in the first place!

Funny Boy
~ The other night I was relaxing with some "Me Time" at my hair appointment. While I was waiting for my hair to process I was texting my husband to get some details on something. He was not being very forthcoming (Men can be so vague sometimes!) so I kept texting him for more information. Later on that evening when I got home Devin asked me, "Are you bored Mommy?" Umm no Devin, I just got home. So Devin says, "When you were gone Daddy's phone was going beep beep beep and he said- What is she bored?"
BUSTED! Devin is ALWAYS "ratting" Erick out (as Erick would say)!!!
~ Last night Erick and I were talking about someone -not-so-kindly (no one you know!) and Erick said, "Yeah she's a B-I-T-C-H, huh?" Right behind him Devin says, "Who's a B-I-T-C-H?"
Guess we can't even spell out the swears anymore!?!?!?! LOL
Oh out of the mouths of kids!

Conversation between Daddy and Devin
Devin has had this thing with biting his lower lip for a while now. I am not sure if its a nervous thing or just a habit and I don't know what to do about it or how to make him stop. I tell him not to do it and I have him put chapstick on it, but it still looks horrible with little sores/bite marks on it.
Well, I over heard this conversation last night:
Erick: Devin, you have to stop biting your lip.
Devin: No Daddy.
Erick: Its looks ugly. You want your lips to look pretty, so the girls will check them out.
Devin: Oookaaay, Daddy.
Maybe that will help? Maybe I was just approaching it the wrong way this whole time?

Shh, don't tell!!!
Recently, Devin and I started listening to Christmas music in the car. I know its a little early, but I might be just as excited as he is for the upcoming holidays. Its something about experiencing the holidays through the eyes of a child that is exhilarating.
Anyway, after "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" we proceeded to have a conversation around this topic. I reminded him that he needed to be a good boy all the time or Santa wouldn't bring him any presents- I know...so mean! (He has been having a couple of particularly challenging days and I am 98% sure its another ear infection- we'll know later today.)
He told me, "Don't tell Santa, okay Momma?"
This darn kid is too smart for his own good!
Oh and Santa, if you are reading this, Devin REALLY wants a "toy" Buzz Lightyear and Woody for Christmas. Not the real ones, the toys. (LOL)

Middle of the Night
As I was peacefully dreaming of cost-free relaxing vacations on beautiful islands and calorie-exempt desserts, I was awoken by a shrieking little voice yelling, "Mommy! Mooooom! Mommy I have to peeeee!"
So I got up and helped the little guy to the bathroom. Both of us, in a half drunk stupor, made it there and back. As I was tucking Devin back into bed he asked me, "Can I be done sleeping now?"
"Uhhh, no Devin its 1 am. Its still the middle of the night." I told him and I kissed him goodnight and went back to bed.
A few minutes later he was coughing repeatedly and I knew it wasn't going to stop. <His asthma has been really bad lately.> I went and got the Nebulizer and medicine and brought it into his room. I entered into my "Nurse Mommy" roll and administered the Neb while Devin lay half-asleep.
When it was done, Devin asked me, "Are you going to watch the news now Mommy?"
"No, Devin. I am going to WASH the Neb and go back to bed."
"Yeah, its the middle of the night." Devin said.

Grandma
Devin and I were both in the kitchen, he was painting and I was preparing meatballs for tonight's dinner. We were talking and got on the topic of Grandma (oh I believe we were talking about the dinosaur she got him, which is almost born~ more to come on that) when I mentioned that Grandma spoils him. Devin agreed with a giggle.
I said, "Hmm I am going to have to talk to her about that."
He replied with a big strong willed (yet, not mean) "No!"
As in "No, don't talk to Grandma about spoiling me because then who is going to give me weekly presents, ice cream every time I go over, make muffins for me or buy me munchkins when come over on Saturdays, and basically give me whatever I want because I am her pride and joy?!?!?!? Come on Mom, You will ruin ALL my fun in life!!!!!"
