Drawing

Devin has recently started to "blossom" ehh ok blossom might be taking it a bit far, but he is finally taking interest in his fine motor skills, which were previously starting to make me nervous. The teacher side of me wants my son to be academically ready for absolutely every side of learning before necessary to ensure that he is going to have a positive learning experience all throughout his schooling. The logical side of me knows that Devin will be fine. He loves pre-school, has a great knowledge and understanding for letters and sounds, asks questions constantly and wants to learn.

Anyhow, those fine motor skills such as drawing, writing, coloring, and cutting were before the last couple of weeks just of NO interest to Devin! In the past 2 or 3 weeks he has started to ask to cut, color, paint, and draw. Here is an example of the adorable people Devin is now making. (I have a soft spot for the rudimentary drawings of small children!)

devin, shaun, and aiyah

It's a picture of Devin, Shaun, and Aiyah (his Godmother, Erin). Shaun is Erin's boyfriend.

His drawing is great!! Cole also has expressed little interest in drawing (although he loves to cut). His drawings are much less sophisticated than Devin's.

It is hard being a teacher parent. I think being a parent has made me a better teacher, but I'm not so sure about the other way around.

Those are great! Analese has just recently started drawing and I'm impressed! She can draw as well as I can (but that is not saying much LOL).

I love these early people picutres. They are so amazing. You get to see how kid's minds develop. Michael loves to write letters and numbers, but he rarely actually draws. It's so cool when he does.

I have to confess, you are a better mom than me. I still haven't let Michael cut anything. I'm afraid to give him scissors!
