Day 2 and Baking

Devin woke up looking better than I expected this morning. His bump/bruising/swelling isn't as bad as we thought it would be (Much to his teacher's relief~ she was so upset/nervous about the whole ordeal). You can see the purple oval bump going up and down his forehead and some swelling in between his eyes, but he is otherwise fine. It sure doesn't seem to have effected his mood, temperament, or memory as he memorized the entire Frosty the Snowman movie!!!! lol

I spent MANY, MANY hours this afternoon making 3 batches of "Cake Balls" for my Holiday Luncheon at work tomorrow, the staff at Devin's school, a friend of mine who just adores them, and yes a few for home too!

The idea behind them is quite simple. You bake a cake and then crumble it up in a large bowl. Add some frosting- not too much (about 3/4 a can per cake), but just enough to moisten the cake and form into balls. Place into the fridge or freezer to allow the balls to form. Melt chocolate )you will go through more than you think) and dip the balls into it. Cover well- sprinkle with jimmies or crushed candy canes, etc. if desired and place back into the fridge or freezer and allow the balls to complete formation.

Oh and of course there was my hand that I burned in the oven when I carelessly reached in to remove a cake. OUCH! (almost looks like a lipstick kiss in this picture, lol! I promise you it is NOT! lol)

Poor Devin with his owie, good thing it's getting better already.

Ouch! Your burn looks bad, I hope your feeling better!

The cake balls look delicious! I have read so much about them but never attempted making them myself yet. I haven't done any holiday baking yet but I need to get on it soon!

Yikes! I hope your hand gets feeling better. The pictures of Devin are so adorable! Oh, and the cake balls too. Although I admit, I'm not a fan of cake so I probably won't be making them. Can you believe we only have 2 weeks until christmas!?!?!

Ouch! I hate when I do that to myself. (The burn. I don't normally have too much trouble with bookcases.)

Devin looks pretty good. Kids are tough.

Mmm...cake balls.
