The Week-end of No Sleep

Devin has always been a good sleeper, a REALLY good sleeper. He started sleeping through the night around 6 weeks old, rarely waking for a diaper change or feeding during the wee hours. He took 2 naps a day until he was 1.5 and will still sleep for a good 1.5 + hours at nap time. He used to sleep until 9 or 10am quite often (but now is on a school routine so he is usually up around 6:30/7:30) but is in bed at 7/7:30pm. I know, we're lucky. If we have another I've been warned to be prepared, as they probably won't be as good a sleeper as Devin.

The problem with having a great sleeper is that when they don't sleep well it throws us all off. We are just not used to it! Friday Devin skipped his nap (a rarity) and Saturday morning he woke up at 5:45 (I was beyond shocked and a bit annoyed!). I was convinced that he would take a 3 hour nap Saturday afternoon but 20 minutes was all he slept!!! I knew something was up at that point.

Saturday night around 11pm Devin woke up with a tummy ache. I was able to get him into the bathroom JUST. IN. TIME. The vomiting commenced at this point and did not stop until about 7am. Just was we would get back into bed, my poor sad, sick Devin would start crying and calling us back to get sick again. He was miserable. It was so sad. I felt bad for him.

Sunday we were all EXHAUSTED. Having gotten no sleep, we laid on the couch and watched movies. After Devin's afternoon nap he spiked a temp of 101.5*. Some Tylenol helped the fever and finally he was able to hold down some water and eventually crackers and applesauce. At dinner he had buttered noodles and held that down too.

Last night everyone slept through the night....VERY MUCH NEEDED!!! Devin is fever free today, but still not eating much. I am not going to push him. I have a bit of a come-and-go tummy ache, but (hopefully) I'll be fine. Erick is off to work. Hopefully he got enough sleep to have the energy to deliver the mail in today's frigid temps!

Oh, don't you hate it when they are sick? I hope he feels better soon and you don't get it.

I hope he makes a quick recovery. Sick little boys are so pathetic. You wish you really could kiss them and make them better.
