A Minute with Devin

Please notice that during Devin's "show" he says "D-i-n and that's my name!!!"

Bahaha! Soo funny! I always sing this song to him: "There is a boy who has a name and Devin is his name- D-E-V-I-N, D-E-V-I-N, D-E-V-I-N and Devin is his name!"

TO Mommy FROM Devin

Devin picked these interesting flowers for me today while he was on a walk with his babysitter, Carolyn. He is such a kind hearted sweetie!!!

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Today I thought I would do something different with Devin. I saw a sign at Holman Stadium, next to my work, saying that today was Kid's Camp day at the Pride game. Noon game just for the kids...perfect! It was Devin's first outing to a baseball game and he LOVED it! He was enthralled with everything going on....the players, field, all the people, Stitch the Baseball mascot, food stands, and even the recruiters from the ARMY who were there handing out free goods.

He kept insisting that he wanted to go out on the field!!! It was tough to explain to him that he couldn't go be a Nashua Pride player, just yet! Devin also kept calling the players "Papi" as in Big Papi- David Ortiz. He would yell, "Yay Papi!!!" It was so cute but again I had to try to explain to him that these players were not Papi or the Red Sox. It was a great time for me and Devin to spend some nice quality time alone with each other, but we've both already decided that next time Daddy should come because he would like it too!

Devin, someday we will bring you to a Red Sox game!!! I promise!

Brownie Sundaes

Today was a nice, lazy family day. We did not do much in terms of productivity, but one thing that we did do was make brownies for Brownie Sundaes (yes, very important indeed!).

Devin really enjoyed being a part of this process. We told him that he could help pour the ingredients in and stir the batter. He loved being up on the "wadder" so that he could reach.

As you would imagine, Devin couldn't wait to sample the brownie batter and he dug in as quickly as he could get his little fingers in there!

Here is a video of Devin "making brownies."

And just in case you wanted to see the finished product....

Family BBQ

We went to a family BBQ today and I want to share a couple of photos that were taken.

Here is a pic of my mother, grandmother, and me!

Erick and my mom

Devin and his "cousin" (my cousin's daughter) Nadia

And finally Devin giving Memmere some love!

It was nice to see everyone at the BBQ and there was PLENTY of food, but it sure was hot out! Devin ended up getting *really bad* heat rash and we had to cut it short, before all of the kids activities started. Thats ok, we are all beat from the sun anyway!!!

Happy Birthday Mom!

Today is my mother's 55th birthday. Happy Birthday Mom!!

Devin and I spent the afternoon with my mother. We went to lunch/dinner, shopping, and hung out in the backyard at my parent's house. All through the day Devin would belt out to his Gama (Grandma) "Happy Biiiirday Gama" and "Happy Biiirrrday tooo Yooouuu!" It was so sweet. He was also VERY proud of the card he bought for her and his added touches. Devin decorated the envelope with his scribbles and stickers and signed his "name" inside. You could tell just how excited Devin was about celebrating his Grandma's special day.

Mom, I wish you many more years of good health and happiness! I love you!

I got this from my blogging mommy friend, Kimberly. Its pretty neat-o! Haha...Give it a try to find out what year YOU belong in! Be sure to let me know!

You Belong in 1981

Wild, over the top, and just a little bit cheesy. You're colorful at night - and successful during the day.

Approaching 30...

I celebrated my 29th birthday last week.

Yes, before you ask, it was nice. We were actually away on our "mini-vacation" when "B Day" occurred. I spent my whole 29th birthday at Story Land (maybe not the ideal place for an adult) and then out to dinner and ice cream, and wrapped it up with pool time and drinks with my husband and friends, Heather and Steve.

I have to admit, though, that I am kind of freaked out about being so close to 30. I didn't really think it would bother me too much, but you know, it kind of is!

The last birthday to bother me was 25. I thought that 25 didn't sound "young" anymore as I was out of my early twenties and on my way to 30. Now I am almost 30.......

Vacation Exhaustion

We were only gone for 2 nights, 3 days but I sure am exhausted!! During the time we were gone it was non-stop action. We went to Story Land Wednesday afternoon and most of the day Thursday, in the pool/indoor water park Thursday night, on Thomas the Train Friday morning and shopping at the outlets Friday afternoon. All of this plus the eating out, driving, and (occasionally) sleeping. I must admit that Devin held out quite well, especially considering that he was low on sleep and gets pretty wound up with his buddy Pierce.

Here are some pictures to show you some of our vacation.
Check out Devin on the water slide at the indoor water park our hotel had!!

Best Buddies

This picture sums up our mini vacation. Devin and Pierce are such good buddies, always wanting to play and looking out for each other. They had so much fun going on the rides, playing in the water park, and running around together.

Today after we woke up, now at home, Devin said "Play with Pierce, Mom?"

Great week!

This week Erick is on vacation. The weather is perfect and the quality time is precious. While I have still been working my strenuous (ha, ha) two hours tutoring at school, we have been having lots of fun afterwards. Yesterday we went to the mall and looked around...bought a few things- more lotions at VS and toys for Devin from Target plus yummy pretzels. Devin took a ride on the train too. Last night we had cuddle time while watching Noggin (see picture above). Today we drove out to the beach and had a yummy seafood dinner and then walked around on the boardwalk, all with my parents. (I forgot my camera!!! BOO!!!)

Tomorrow we leave for a "mini-vacation" up in North Conway. We are going with our friends Heather and Steve and their son Pierce. We plan on going to Storyland and on a scenic train ride as well as spending a lot of time in our hotel's indoor water park and visiting the many outlet shops!

Look forward to seeing LOADS of pictures from our little trip soon!!!

Summer Fun

The summer has started out strong, with lots more time and activities still planned! We have already been to the beach, the farm for strawberry picking, the park several times, and of course to friends' houses for play time. Here are a couple of my favorite pictures of Devin playing at Heather B's house.

(Please notice that Devin is looking and smiling in at least one of these pictures!!!)

I am here...a few updates

Just wanted to let you know that I am here. I have been suffering from a bad headache most of the week-end and that has been keeping me down. Sorry!!! In the meantime here are a few updates from our end...

*We continue to give Devin "Big boy undie" time, but there has really been no progress on that.

*We had a great time on the Fourth of July. We went to my parents' house for a delicious BBQ and got to see (almost) everyone important...my parents, my grandmother, my brother and Heather F, Erin and Shaun, and Marie.

*We opted not to try the fireworks this year. Devin is afraid of loud noises. While I hope that he would "get over it" once he understood the noise, I am just not sure. Plus, he was exhausted (as were we).

*Devin has an "Aiyah." Aiyah is what Devin has always called his godmother, Erin. Erin used to try to get Devin to say her name correctly but he never has. On the fourth, Devin called her "Erin." She hated it and immediately asked him to call her by her name, Aiyah.

*Erick is on vacation next week! I can't wait!

*On the other hand, I start my summer tutoring tomorrow Its only Monday through Thursday 8 to 10 am, but it means I will have to go to work when Erick is home. BOO!

*We are still deciding if we will take off and do something family oriented and fun next week. If we do it will be a long week-end Thursday (7/17- oh yeah my birthday ;) til Sunday (7/20). We are thinking of doing Story Land again. I would love to do Sesame Place, but that is waaaay too far!

Speaking of Pictures....

I have this little problem and I am pretty sure its not me.

Every picture I try to take of Devin comes out like this:

or this:
Are you catching on yet? He flat out REFUSES to take a good picture for me anymore! (Hence why I referenced Kim in my last post.) Kim manages to get great pictures of Devin. It could be that her photography skills are WAAAAY better than mine, or that he is just sick of me taking his picture. I vote for both!

Anyway, THANK YOU Kim. Please don't stop taking pictures of Devin. I need something to remember the terrible two's by!!!!

Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Two's....

I know that no one ever said the "terrible two" phase was easy, but, come on! So far today Devin and I have fought about him eating fruit for breakfast (he didn't want to), putting his sneakers on, giving him juice, Devin needing to apologize for jumping up and down on my bare feet once I got the sneakers on him, Devin screaming (VERY LOUDLY) in my face because he was mad and not apologizing, Devin wanting cookies for lunch (I finally got him to have apple sauce first), Devin not wanting to go down for his nap (but thankfully is now sleeping). AAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did I mention that I am also not feeling well today? I don't think that is making things any easier.

Because of Devin's trying attitude and behavior today I thought I would post my new favorite picture (to remind myself that he is a very sweet and loving boy... sometimes)! (Thanks for the pic Kim!)
