Potty Training

I am beginning to feel as if Devin will never get potty trained. Devin had started off potty training fairly well at the beginning of the summer. I started giving him "naked time" each afternoon and he was starting to get the hang of pee and poop needing to be excreted in the toilet. He even pooped on the potty for a week straight! Then something happened. I don't even know what it was or exactly when it happened, but he started to REFUSE the potty.

I am torn between so many different methods. Do I take him out of the diapers even though he is refusing to use the potty or do I wait? Do I try giving him periods of naked or underwear time again (like at the beginning of the summer)? Do nothing and just wait for him to let me know when he is ready? The other issue is that he is not home with me all the time. He is at daycare/school most of his day. They offer him the potty there, but they are not pushing him. They will do a potty chart with Devin, but if he won't even get on the potty its kind of hard to do a chart......

By the time we get home I have to make dinner, clean up, do the Nebulizer with Devin, bath time, bedtime routine, etc. There really is no time!!! Ahhhhh!!!! Will Devin EVER get potty trained????

Don't worry. Ethan did the same thing with potty training. He was all excited about it at the beginning of the summer. Now nothing. I have found that boys are usually later to train. My older boys were close to 3.5 before they were completely PT. I would not push him through. Plus I think once he see other children doing in daycare he will be willing to try it again. Good luck I am right with you.

My plan is to wait until Michael understands what I'm talking about, and then trying then. I'm not sure how that's going to work, but I'm pretty sure he's not to big on the whole potty training thing. The director of his daycare says that even though they put them on the potty starting around 2 1/2, most boys don't train until 3.

Oh Karla- don't worry. Nolan is the same way. He was doing great for awhile and now wants nothing to do with the potty. So, I have backed off and still offer occasionally but I don't want to push it too much. Devin is not alone in the diaper club!

Zachary is doing the same thing. He was doing soooo good but now he does not want to be bothered with it. Whew...potty training is tough.
